Edward leaves Bella after an attack that nearly claimed her life, and in her depression she falls into yet another paranormal relationship – this time with werewolf Jacob Black. After Bella recovers from the vampire attack that almost claimed her life, she looks to celebrate her birthday with Edward and his family. However, a minor accident during the festivities results in Bella’s blood being shed, a sight that proves too intense for the Cullens, who decide to leave the town of Forks, Washington for Bella and Edward’s sake.
Initially heartbroken, Bella finds a form of comfort in reckless living, as well as an even-closer friendship with Jacob Black. Danger in different forms awaits.

Contents [] Plot summary In the beginning of the book, is upset because it's her birthday and it will make her older than the 'forever' 17 year old. Much to her dismay, the throws her a birthday party. She, then, receives a present from and Edward, a CD with on it. At the birthday party, Bella gets a paper cut when opening a present and then tries to attack her which then leads to her being accidentally smashed into a mess of glass that cuts deeply into her arm, ends up giving Bella stitches. Even though Jasper does not harm Bella because the rest of the Cullen's manage to restrain him, the encounter shakes Edward.
